How to Collect Shiny Llamas in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1

Fortnite continues to drop a heap of things to do, with new content and quests regularly being added, and collecting Shiny Llamas unlocks exclusive rewards.

With Winterfest in full swing, providing a whopping 16 free cosmetic rewards during the event, there’s no better time to squad up with your friends to play Fortnite, and if you do, there’s an exclusive Starbrite Slasher Pickaxe to claim.

There are some limitations to claiming the Starbrite Slasher Pickaxe, however, as Shiny Llamas can only be obtained in specific ways in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1. Insider Gaming has all the details to clear up any confusion.

Shiny Llamas can only be collected in Fortnite while playing in Squads, so diving in as a Solo, Duos, or Trios player won’t progress towards the reward.

If you’re short on friends to fill the spots in a Squad, you can use Fortnite’s Fill feature to find other players who are also missing the required number of players. If you really want to, you can also play Squads as a Solo player by selecting the mode and turning off Fill, though this isn’t recommended as you’re likely to be quickly outgunned.

You don’t have to play traditional Battle Royale modes in Squads to collect Shiny Llamas either, as they are also available in Fortnite OG, Reload, and Blitz.

When playing Squads in one of these game modes, Shiny Llamas can drop from eliminations, Rare Chests, Supply Drops, and Bosses. You don’t need to gather any Shiny Llamas that drop yourself either, as progress is shared between Squad members, so don’t worry about fighting off your teammates for the drop.

Collecting 400 Shiny Llamas provides the Starbrite Slasher Pickaxe as an exclusive reward, and there’s plenty of additional XP to earn along the way, with 12,000 XP awarded for every 100 Shiny Llamas collected. Even once the main reward has been claimed, you can still progress towards more XP rewards.

There’s only a limited amount of time to claim the rewards, however, as the Squad Up! event is scheduled to end on January 4.
