Starfield 2026 Update Rumoured to Bring Quicker Space Flights, PS5 & Switch 2 Ports and More

According to new rumours, Bethesda Game Studios showcased Starfield’s 2026 update behind closed doors, featuring PS5 and Switch 2 ports, Space Flight improvements, and more.

Starfield’s new update has been a subject of question since the start of 2025. The developers have mentioned another DLC several times, but we have yet to release any confirmed details. There have also been rumours about a Switch 2 port and new space flight features, which new rumours have seemingly confirmed.

Starfield 2026 Update Reportedly Showcased Behind Closed Doors

A new report by WindowsCentral discusses rumours that Starfield’s 2026 update was recently showcased behind closed doors. These rumours state that Bethesda has been working to improve Starfield’s spaceflight mechanics and to step away from loading screens for “more free-form and continuous” traversal. The game’s Creation Engine has received significant technical improvements to enhance the spaceflight system, and the improvements will be used in future games as well.

Additionally, the Starfield 2026 update is also rumoured to bring the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 ports next year. The developers have been working on optimising the title for “low power” devices like handhelds. However, sources are unable to agree on the scale of the update. Some say it won’t be on par with Cyberpunk 2.0, while others are optimistic. Readers should treat this information with caution as it doesn’t come from an official source.

In other news, Bethesda teased ‘Terran Armada’ in an anniversary post. Additionally, the PS5 port for the title will not be announced this year according to a recent claim.
