I’m a fan of bells and whistles, so when the GameSir G7 Pro fell into my lap, I welcomed it with open arms. This high-end, high-performance controller is a stellar piece of equipment that boasts just about as many innovations as you could pack into a single device. After a couple of weeks with the handsome accessory, I feel ready to compile a full GameSir G7 Pro controller review.
Read on to learn why the GameSir G7 Pro is one of the most mindblowing controllers I’ve ever seen.
I Just Wish It Had a Better Name
The GameSir G7 Pro doesn’t sound like a cutting-edge piece of equipment, and that’s about where my gripes with the controller end. Despite it not being the first name on your mind when you think of controllers, the GameSir brand is coming up in the world, which is great for anyone wanting a high-performance controller with a relatively affordable price tag.
When I picked up my GameSir G7 Pro, I opted for the ‘Mech White’ variant as opposed to the ‘Shadow Ember’ design, but both are equally stunning. They’re based on the Xbox form factor, which, in my opinion, is the most comfortable controller layout ever made.
From the moment I started pulling the parts out of the attractive packaging, I knew I was on to a winner.
The GameSir G7 Pro, which boasts tri-mode connectivity, feels sturdy in your hands. The swappable textured grips are comfortable, the details on the triggers and bumper buttons feel tactile, and the face buttons, thumbsticks, and interchangeable d-pad options are all well-designed and premium.
There are four extra buttons within easy reach on the GameSir G7 Pro, two at your fingertips next to the triggers, and two behind the handgrips. They’re mappable and very helpful. You can customise the controller further by adjusting the triggers with the flick of a switch, tweaking the Hall Effect inputs, and making use of lovely ‘clicky’ micro switch stops.
I feel like every detail has been accounted for in this controller. For instance, there’s a nice metal banding around the ‘stem’ of the thumbsticks, which means they won’t be eroded as fast as an all-plastic stick. And I should highlight that those thumbsticks are potentiometer sticks with more Hall Effect tech packed inside them.

Technical Marvel
Along with the Hall Effect triggers, the switches, and the ‘clicky’ face buttons, the GameSir G7 Pro is packing plenty of heat under the hood. That hood can be peeked under, too – you can remove the magnetic faceplate with ease, opting for a ‘crystal’ design if you so choose.
In the GameSir G7 Pro, you’ll find a 1200mAh battery that lasts a good few hours off charge, depending on vibration, usage, alternate inputs like a headset, and so on.
The device can be charged by a USB-C cable (included), or you can use the handsome charging dock that’s included in the box, which is a nice bonus. If you don’t want to use the USB-C cable for connectivity, you can also rely on Bluetooth or 2.4G wireless. Presently, the GameSir G7 Pro is built primarily for PC, Xbox Series XS, and Android gaming.
At 272 grams, the GameSir G7 Pro is ever so slightly lighter than a Dualsense or a traditional Xbox controller, but it feels just as well-made. One of the key differences here is that you can use the GameSir Nexus software to customise the hell out of your G7 Pro, which puts ‘standard’ controllers to shame.
And even better news is that, at $79.99, the GameSir G7 Pro decimates the Xbox Elite and Dualsense Edge controllers in the pricing stakes. Don’t even get me started on the cost of a Scuf or Battle Beaver, either.
Try as hard as I might, I really cannot find one major flaw with the GameSir G7 Pro. It’s a stupendous controller that has become my daily driver on PC. I just wish it had a better name!
