Players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch will receive free upgrades for the enhanced version of Red Dead Redemption.
Red Dead Redemption has been the talk of the town today, with Rockstar finally announcing the game is releasing for current-gen consoles, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2. The title will also be available on Android and iOS devices on the same day. What’s more, players who owned the game on last-gen consoles are eligible for a free upgrade to the enhanced version.
PS4, Xbox One, and Switch Users Will Receive Free Upgrades for Red Dead Redemption
As revealed through an official blog post by Rockstar Games, current owners of Red Dead Redemption on PS4, Nintendo Switch, or the digital backward compatible version on Xbox One will be able to upgrade digitally for free.” What’s more, PS4 users will be able to utilise their save data and continue where they left off; similarly, Switch 2 users will have the option to utilize Switch save data as well.
Players on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will see the maximum upgrades in the new Red Dead Redemption title, with a smooth 60 frames per second frame rate, enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K. Nintendo Switch 2 users will also be able to take advantage of the new hardware, featuring support for DLSS, HDR, mouse controls, 60 FPS gameplay, and high-resolution visuals.
In other news, Red Dead Redemption will be available to play through PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on December 2, 2025. Additionally, the sequel has become the fourth best-selling game ever in terms of units sold.
