There’s so much going on in Megabonk that a second pair of eyes would be handy. Many roguelikes don’t have any form of co-op or online multiplayer, but that doesn’t mean Megabonk can’t have it.
With faster internet speeds, more consoles and platforms, and even bigger TVs, the presence of online multiplayer and co-op remains as strong as ever. Megabonk has lived up to its name and bashed many over the head with its wacky brand of eccentricity and roguelike core values.
On the surface, it’s a roguelike survival game with seemingly never-ending hordes of enemies in automatically generated maps. As they say, though, two’s company, so let’s see if Megabonk provides this option.
Does Megabonk Have Online Multiplayer?

The Megabonk Discord server says that multiplayer isn’t for the game right now, but it’s something the developer is going to look into for the future.
It’s still impressive to us that Megabonk is developed by one person—known by their Discord name as ved. It happens to be the case for a lot of these small-time indie games that become overnight sensations.
If you head to the Megabonk official Discord server, it has a very brief FAQ section. One question posed simply says “Multiplayer??,” and ved has a quick but promising reply: “I’d love to, but I have to look more into it first. No promises yet.”
We’re unsure if this means online co-operative multiplayer, PVP, PVE, or something else. We’ll have to wait and see if ved can make something happen!
Does Megabonk Have Co-Op?
It’s the same for Megabonk co-op as the game doesn’t have either online or local co-op, meaning the only way to enjoy the roguelike for now is in single-player.
This section is a continuation of the above question. There’s no multiplayer whatsoever. This is strictly a solo experience for now. Meanbonk’s developer is looking at multiplayer functionality, and if you’re looking to buddy up in it, you might need to wait a while.
Some roguelikes like Enter The Gungeon and The Binding of Isaac have been able to include multiplayer, so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility to make this dream a reality.
What’s the first thing you’d do if Megabonk added any kind of multiplayer? Would you prefer online multiplayer? Or the simple option to play in co-op with a friend? The Insider Gaming forum is where you can let us know, and don’t be afraid to drop a comment below, either.
