Escape from Tarkov is set to be released on Steam at some point, and right now, users can head to the platform and add the game to their wishlist. It’s the first time that the pioneering extraction shooter has been listed for sale on a platform other than escapefromtarkov.com, and it’s an exciting time to be a fan.
In recent hours, it was discovered that the ‘popular user-defined tags’ for Escape from Tarkov on Steam have been fiddled with in the most bizarre way. Let’s just say that there are some tags that definitely don’t represent the game’s content spread.
Escape from Tarkov’s Steam Tags Manipulated by Users
If you head over to the Steam page for Escape from Tarkov, you’ll notice something up with the game’s user-defined tags. The PvP tag is fine, and sure, even the ‘Psychological Horror’ tag can go either way, given how notorious Escape from Tarkov is for dishing out insane jumpscares.
But what raises a few eyebrows are the accompanying tags of ‘Hentai’ and ‘Sexual Content’:

It’s safe to say that, bar a few semi-nude posters, Escape from Tarkov contains no pornographic content. The only time you’ll see anything remotely close to that in Escape from Tarkov is when you’re being f***ed by a cheater or some hefty desync.
In the wide world of social media, it has been claimed that this is a repeat (and known) issue where wrongdoers will label games with these tags to restrict their visibility on Steam.
Escape from Tarkov is in an interesting spot right now. It’s less than two months away from hitting a 1.0 release, almost a decade after it entered alpha and eight years after it dropped into beta. A new version of the game is being prepared and demoed by players at events worldwide, including at the Tokyo Game Show, which is unravelling as you read this (probably).
