Dying Light: The Beast is the long-awaited third instalment in the hyper-popular post-apocalyptic franchise. It comes just three years after the launch of Dying Light 2: Stay Human, offering up a more compact, brutal adventure over the expansive, live-service model of the second game.
As a more story-focused, linear adventure, Dying Light: The Beast is perfect for gamers wanting to enjoy the game on the go, playing it on handheld devices. That raises the question amongst gamers everywhere: Is Dying Light: The Beast Steam Deck Verified?
Let’s find out.
How Does Dying Light: The Beast Perform on Steam Deck?
Dying Light: The Beast is Steam Deck Verified, per a recent announcement from Techland, the franchise developer. It’s approved from launch, and from what we know, it runs smoothly and boasts an exclusive ‘performance mode’ designed specifically for Valve’s flagship handheld device.
Here’s a statement from Tomasz Szalkowski, Rendering and Audio Director on Dying Light: The Beast:
As a fan of the Steam Deck, I was personally driven to bring Dying Light: The Beast to the platform. I oversaw every detail to make sure it runs really well, including a special ‘performance’ mode that contains a mix of tweaked settings and special optimizations together with HDR and VRR running smoothly on an OLED display.
I’m happy with how the game performs, and I can’t wait for players to try it themselves on September 18th.
Dying Light: The Beast takes the formula that made the first game so successful in 2015 and expands on it. It reintroduces Kyle Crane to the series, who hasn’t been seen for almost a decade, and makes him into something almost superhuman.
The critical and core elements of Dying Light are still present, which means that parkour, gory combat, and survival mechanics are front and centre in this open-world title. It’s also a throwback to the first game in that the day-night cycle yields sheer terror when the sun goes down.
