Bethesda Game Studios might have finally given up the title of the next Starfield expansion, two years to the day since the game was released. In a post on social media, the team posted a ‘happy anniversary’ message that was overlaid with a glitching message reading ‘Terran Armada’.
Fans have been chomping at the bit for news of Starfield’s second expansion for several months, and while Bethesda has been nodding to it for a while, this is the first indication we’ve had of something as simple as a potential name.
What is Terran Armada in Starfield?
Terran Armada could be the first nod we’ve had to the second major expansion for Starfield. It was promised before release that we’d have one major expansion for Starfield every year, but up until now, we’ve only heard about one – Shattered Space.
Let’s take a look at that name, ‘Terran Armada’.
Anything ‘Terran’ refers to Earth, and an armada is typically used to refer to a massive fleet of ships. In the world of Starfield, Earth became a barren wasteland sometime after 2200, after the planet’s atmosphere collapsed and humanity was forced to stage a mass exodus.
It was a product of humanity’s doing, as the invention and persistent use of a faster-than-light jump engine destabilized the planet.
Terran Armada could potentially be a prequel of sorts, taking us back to when humanity was forced to flee Earth and head into the stars aboard ships intended to preserve the human race.
Whatever it is, it’s good to finally see at least a possible name for the expansion.
