How to Turn Off Adaptive Triggers in Battlefield 6 on PS5

The PS5 has become known as the ruler of Adaptive Triggers. The controller function makes games more immersive than ever. If you’re finding that Adaptive Triggers are scuppering your Battlefield 6 experience more than helping it, we can show you how to turn them off.

I was impressed when I saw Adaptive Triggers announced for PS5 and what it was capable of. It wasn’t until I had a PS5 controller in my hands and experienced advanced haptic feedback for myself that I realized how groundbreaking it was. Battlefield 6 is one of many AAA games that use Adaptive Triggers to suck you into the virtual world.

Adaptive Triggers aren’t for everyone. If you fall into this category, the good news is that they can be adjusted for Battlefield 6.

Does Battlefield 6 Have an Adaptive Triggers Setting in Battlefield 6?

No, there is no dedicated setting in the Battlefield 6 controls menu that allows you to directly turn off Battlefield 6’s Adaptive Triggers.

Even as of Battlefield 6’s Weekend Two beta, you can’t directly turn Adaptive Triggers off. The feature is on by default, and I find this to be a baffling omission and glaring oversight. Considering the game has a lot of menus and sub-menus—allowing you to tweak aim controls and graphics—not being able to alter your controls is bizarre.

Not all is lost, though, Battlefield 6 fans.

How to Turn Off Adaptive Triggers Feature in Battlefield 6

You need to go into the playStation 5’s main Settings and turn off ‘Trigger Effect Intensity’ through the system’s Accessibility menu options.

Before I get into a full explanation, here are quick steps for you to follow:

  1. Boot up your PS5.
  2. Hold the PS5 controller’s power button to bring up the second menu.
  3. Go to the cog in the top corner of the screen—Settings.
  4. Click on Accessibility.
  5. Scroll down to Controllers.
  6. Go through the list to the bottom until you reach Trigger Effect Intensity.
  7. Press the option.
  8. Now switch the setting to off and exit Settings.

It’s clunky and cumbersome, but it’s the only known way to turn off Adaptive Triggers in Battlefield 6. If you want to lessen the effect, rather than remove it altogether, you can always choose ‘Weak’ or ‘Medium’ instead.

What do Adaptive Triggers do in Battlefield 6?

Adaptive Triggers simulate the feeling of squeezing a weapon’s trigger in Battlefield 6 and most FPS titles.

Remember when I was talking about immersion earlier? That’s what Adaptive Triggers do in Battlefield 6. This is why you need to squeeze harder on the R2 button to fire your weapon. I personally love Adaptive Triggers in all single-player content. It brings the game to life and does enhance my enjoyment—but that’s me.

When it comes to online multiplayer, I want to be as far away from Adaptive Triggers as possible. It can leave your fingers feeling painful and strained after prolonged game sessions. Your finger can cramp up, and it becomes a chore to eliminate people!

I’m crossing all of my sore fingers that Battlefield Studios adds this quality of life change for Battlefield 6’s full release. Are you glad you at least have one solution to work with? Is there anything else EA and the developers have overlooked with BF6? Let us know through the Insider Gaming forum.
