How to Turn Off Crossplay in Battlefield 6 Open Beta

The Battlefield 6 open beta supports crossplay, but there is an option to turn the setting off.

During the Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal event, EA explained how skill-based matchmaking works. Ping, player location, server availability, and “some skill factor” are all taken into account when creating lobbies. However, the matchmaking factors “will vary based on each game mode and player counts.”

It’s unclear to what degree this applies to each game mode, but EA assured fans that lobbies will still feature a diverse range of players. Crossplay also plays a factor in matchmaking, but you are more than welcome to take that out of the equation if you like.

Battlefield 6 Crossplay Explained

Battlefield 6 supports crossplay between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

If you decide to leave crossplay on, DICE producer Alexia Christofi explained how the feature works and the role it plays in matchmaking.

“Crossplay is on, we treat it as console preferred crossplay, so we’ll try and matchmake you with others playing on console before falling back to full crossplay if we can’t find you a match with only/mostly console players.”

Turning on crossplay improves matchmaking speeds and increases the likelihood of more balanced lobbies, because EA has a larger player pool to pull from. That being said, some users would still prefer to turn it off.

How to Turn Off Crossplay in Battlefield 6

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to turn crossplay off.

  1. From the BF6 main menu, scroll over to settings, which is signified by a gear icon.
  2. Select System.
  3. Under the Setup tab, select whether you want crossplay on or off.

It’s important to note that you cannot enable or disable crossplay when with a member of a party, during matchmaking, or after joining a server.
