Minecraft continues to make major changes and additions to the game, and the opportunity is now available to explore the third big change of the year, with the introduction of Copper Golems one of the highlights.
Copper Golems are another new Mob in Minecraft, following on from the addition of the Happy Ghast last month, and their addition makes Copper a more useful resource in the game, particularly for those who hate sorting through all their items.

How to Make a Copper Golem in Minecraft

Copper Golems, unlike Iron Golems, cannot be found randomly in the world. Instead, they must be crafted by players. However, they’re not available in the full game yet.
Copper Golems, alongside the new Copper Tools and Copper Armor, are currently available in the Minecraft Bedrock Beta and Preview, with an addition to Java snapshot coming soon. No date has been provided for the full addition to Minecraft across all platforms.
The list below highlights the required items you need to make a Copper Golem, so ensure you have them all in your inventory before you begin.
- Pumpkin
- Shears
- 9x Copper Ore
- Crafting Table
For the full process, follow these steps:
- Use Shears on a Pumpkin to create a Carved Pumpkin.
- Using the Crafting Table, fill all the slots with Copper Ore to make a Copper Block.
- Place the Copper Block on the floor.
- Place the Carved Pumpkin on top of the Copper Block.
When completed correctly, a Copper Golem will spawn on top of a Copper Chest. Both are extremely useful items in Minecraft and are well worth grinding for.
What Does a Copper Golem do in Minecraft?
Copper Golems go hand-in-hand with Copper Chests, automatically sorting and organising items for you. With Copper Chests nearby, Copper Golems will open them, collect as many items as they can carry, and transport the items to other chests around your base, even sorting them neatly into stacks.
Your first Copper Chest is created at the same time as the Copper Golem, and picking up the Copper Chest teaches you the crafting requirements for additional chests—eight pieces of Copper Ore surrounding a Chest.
This makes the Copper Golem the perfect companion when you return from big mining trips, saving you time sorting out all the items, and they’re also handy to keep things organised with automation like Cobblestone generation and auto fish farms.
