Grounded 2 is set for release on Tuesday, July 29. Official release times have not been stated, but due to the early access nature of the game, it’s unlikely to have a staggered global release. Instead, expect it to be available globally at the same moment, with exact timings different due to time zones.

On PC Game Pass, a countdown reveals a release time of, which is standard for Game Pass releases. The same time is shown on Steam.

As mentioned, Grounded 2, much like the first game, will initially release in Game Preview status, so many features like achievements may not be available immediately. It’s not clear how long it will be until a full release, though a roadmap has been promised on day one.

The Grounded release schedule may give a rough idea though, with the first game released into early access in July 2020, then fully released in September 2022.

The release times globally are shown in the table below.

What’s New in Grounded 2?

The first thing to note for Grounded 2 compared to the first game in the series is the size, as the developer states, “the starting zone alone is nearly as big as the entire backyard from the first game.”

Bugs have been overhauled from the first game and are no longer just mounts, now providing benefits as building partners, allies in battle, and emergency getaway rides.

Each bug has “its own unique perks and playstyle,” with “Buggys” being an essential part of survival. For example, red ants can be used to haul resources, while Orb Weaver’s stun enemies mid-fight.

Changes have also come to tools, especially with the Oni-Tool; which works as an Axe, Hammer, Shovel, and Wrench all in one, freeing up backpack space. New bugs are also added, including cockroaches, alongside new biomes, including ice cream carts and snack shacks.

As an early access title, player feedback will play a direct role in the development of the game, and players are encouraged to share what they like and don’t like as they explore.
