Call of Duty: WW2 was recently added to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, causing the game’s player count to skyrocket. The 2017 title features one of the best campaigns in franchise history, as well as a solid multiplayer platform that folks are happily revisiting. There’s one question to be answered: ‘Is Call of Duty WW2 crossplay?’
Let’s find out if COD WW2 is cross-platform or crossplay compatible.
Can You Play COD WW2 Crossplay?
Call of Duty: WW2 does not support crossplay, as this was a feature first implemented in 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Call of Duty: WW2 was released in 2017, which means it predates the cross-platform functionality by a couple of years.
That means that if you get Call of Duty: WW2 on Xbox Game Pass, you won’t be able to play with your friends who already own the game on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, or PC.
It’s a huge win that Microsoft recently added COD WW2 to the Game Pass library, but unfortunately, you won’t be playing it with your PlayStation-based friends anytime soon.
Call of Duty: WW2 Player Count
Now that Call of Duty: WW2 has been added to Game Pass, it stands to reason that the player count for the title has grown. However, these numbers are very tough to verify.
On Steam, the game had just 360 players live at the time of publishing, with an all-time high of 19,406 on the platform. That’s hardly representative of the bigger picture, of course. Call of Duty: WW2 is exploding on Xbox, and those numbers are impossible to see.
Is Call of Duty: WW2 on Game Pass?
As I’ve alluded to multiple times in this guide, Call of Duty: WW2 is available on Xbox Game Pass. That means you can download and play the entire game for free, provided you have an active subscription.
COD: WW2 was added to Game Pass on June 30, 2025.
