Arrakis awaits in Dune: Awakening. It’s a brand-new entry in the Dune game series, and its emphasis on survival and alternate timeline makes it unique. If you’re waiting anxiously, you might want to know if Dune: Awakening is on PlayStation or Xbox platforms first.
There are so many platforms and storefronts nowadays that it’s hard to keep up. The newfound power in the Switch 2 means Nintendo is also throwing its name into the hat with many third-party releases, too. Dune: Awakening has the tough reputation of living up to the epic movie showcases and honoring the legacy of the books.
Its availability is then paramount to its success and audience. Let’s run through Dune: Awakening’s platforms and who gets to celebrate out of PC, PlayStation, and Xbox owners.
Can You Play Dune: Awakening on PS5?
Dune: Awakening will be available to play on PlayStation 5, but developer Funcom has yet to reveal when this will be.
The “Dune: Awakening — Release Date Reveal Trailer” on YouTube showed off the game in stunning fashion. As you might infer from the title, it also revealed the original release date—but this was later delayed.
The announced release date was for PC. If you take a closer look at the video’s description, it says: “Console release dates to be announced.” It’s unclear if this means current-gen consoles or if it includes PS4.
Simply, this means we don’t have an official PS5 release date, and we’ll update you once Funcom has an iron-clad timeframe for us all.
Can You Play Dune: Awakening on Xbox Series X|S?
Xbox Series X|S players also have to miss out on Dune: Awakening for now.
Just like above, the newest Dune game is a timed exclusive for PC users. The community is taking advantage of this too, as it’s the fifth-most-wishlisted game on Steam—As of May 28.
People are itching and scratching for some survival! To clarify, Xbox One users will also need to sweat more than standing out in the Arrakis desert with layers on as we await news on an old-gen port.
