DOOM: The Dark Ages Soundtrack Composer—Who Does The Music For DOOM?

Bethesda’s DOOM franchise has boasted beastly soundtracks from the OG title to now. DOOM: The Dark Ages carries on the crushing riffs and banging bass drums heard in recent years, and its soundtrack is carefully curated by one source.

Unless you’re hard of hearing, one of the distinguishing features of the rebooted DOOM games is the music. Each soundtrack features a plethora of industrial heaviness that grinds into your ears and accompanies the intense action on the screen.

DOOM: The Dark Ages makes no mistake in this regard. But recent events have had players questioning who’s at the helm of the orchestra.

Finishing Move is the studio behind the DOOM: The Dark Ages Soundtrack, and they composed the score from top to bottom.

The company has garnered a reputation in recent years for delivering stellar video game scores. Finishing Move has lent its talents to a wide variety of games, including State of Decay 3, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, The Callisto Protocol, Borderlands 3, and multiple Halo games.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is the latest game soundtrack the team has faithfully invested hours into. It remains to be seen if they will curate the soundtrack for future DOOM titles.

Did Mick Gordon Work on DOOM: The Dark Ages?

Mick Gordon is not associated with DOOM: The Dark Ages in any way, and this is the result of a dispute between the artist and Bethesda, leading to a complete dissolution of the partnership.

Gordon has famously provided his talents to various Bethesda games: Wolfenstein: The New Order, Wolfenstein: The New Blood, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Prey, DOOM, and DOOM: Eternal.

But it was during the development of DOOM: Eternal that problems arose. Gordon questioned if he’d work with Bethesda again, as the majority of his music was mixed elsewhere. Doom Eternal executive producer Marty Stratton later came out and criticized Gordon as being difficult to work with.

He claimed Gordon missed deadlines and extensions to have the music ready. All it means is Mick Gordon didn’t work on DOOM: The Dark Ages, and it’s unlikely he will work with Bethesda anytime soon.

Have you had a chance to listen to The Dark Ages’ soundtrack? How does it compare to the 2016 reboot and DOOM: Eternal? Let us know in the comments and through the Insider Gaming forum.
