Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is already one of the best-reviewed games of 2025, emerging on April 24 to stellar reviews and high scores. It’s not fully understood by everyone, and that’s because the game is relatively complex and has come out of left field from a first-time developer.
Naturally, prospective fans are taking to social media platforms to ask: ‘Is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 multiplayer?’ It seems that everyone wants to play every new game with their friends these days, but does Clair Obscur have co-op support?

This game is solely accessible from a single-player perspective, but that’s by no means a bad thing. Clair Obscur has already earned countless shining reviews from tough critics who have praised the story, the linear world, and the refreshing take on turn-based combat mechanics.
It’s highly unlikely that Clair Obscur will ever have any multiplayer elements.
Is Clair Obscur an RPG?
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a role-playing game with an ambitious premise and production. It features an all-star cast, which is surprising given that it’s the debut game from a studio nobody had heard of before Clair Obscur was revealed.
It has been described as a must-play game for any RPG fans, and those put off by the turn-based combat model will be pleased to know that Sandfall Interactive has applied a unique approach to some classic mechanics.
I’m not a turn-based combat fan, but I love an RPG, so I’ll be getting stuck in.
