Oblivion Remaster Rockets Past 100K Players on Steam Hours After Launch

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is already rocketing up the charts on Steam, quickly becoming one of the most played games on the platform just hours after it officially released. With numbers like this already, the eagerly anticipated remaster is already showing early signs of commercial success.

Oblivion Remaster’s Release Is Starting Strong, According to Early Steam Player Numbers

Less than four hours after The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered announcement went live, the game already bypassed over 100,000 players, and is now past 120,000 current players as of 6:50 pm UTC. While those numbers are strong on their own, they’re even more impressive in context. At time of writing, it is the middle of the day in North America on a Tuesday. The game is also completely free to Game Pass subscribers, and doesn’t include any PS5 numbers either.

With each refresh of the Steam charts page, the number continues to rise by a few thousand every few minutes. As the day continues, and when players in North America return home from work or school, it’s only going to keep going up. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered already has higher Steam concurrent players than games like REPO, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Path of Exile 2, and is now catching up to games like Marvel Rivals and Schedule I.

Both anticipation and expectations for the remastered game climbed high in the weeks leading up to the “surprise” drop, and the ultimate reveal did not disappoint. The 2006 Game of the Year has been completely rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 with stunning new visuals and plenty of newly recorded dialogue.

Ultimately how high do you think the The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered player count on Steam will get? Let me know in the comments or on the Insider Gaming forum.
