Bungie has unveiled a little more Marathon with an all-new trailer. The reveal went hand-in-hand with an alpha announcement, which has prospective fans of the sci-fi extraction shooter understandably excited. It’s all well and good having this testing phase, but when is Marathon coming out as a full release?
Cracking the extraction shooter genre as a new title is tough, but Bungie is determined to succeed.
Read on to find out everything we know about the Marathon release date.
Marathon Release Date Confirmed
Bungie has confirmed that Marathon will be released on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC on September 23, 2025.
Marathon is set to be a game-changing extraction shooter, introducing a new and accessible platform that bucks the ‘challenging’ trend of the genre. The team at Bungie is eager to create something that stands apart from the competition – particularly titles like Escape from Tarkov.
It’ll use unique collaborative elements to promote teamwork more than any other extraction shooter out there, and Bungie has already dubbed it a ‘social extraction experience’.
When is the Marathon Alpha?
It was revealed recently by Bungie that Marathon will undergo an alpha testing period, which will give players worldwide an opportunity to check out this intriguing extraction shooter.
The alpha will run from April 23, 2025, but it’s tough to access it, so I’ve put together a full guide to explain how it works.
When the Marathon release date comes around, it’ll launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It’s a long-awaited title that has been touted for years, and fans of the genre are hungry for something new to mix up the extraction shooter space.
