4A Games Says The Next Mainline Metro Game Will Launch “When It’s Ready”

The next mainline game in the Metro series will launch “when it’s ready”. That’s what developer 4A Games said in a post on Twitter on Thursday.

Celebrating the launch of Metro Exodus, which released five years ago today, 4A Games announced that the game has sold over 10 million copies in its lifespan. The studio also talked about the next game being the VR title Metro Awakening that’s launching later this year.

Lastly, it teased the next mainline game for the franchise. It didn’t say much, but it did get fans talking online about when it could possibly be coming. The timeline image it shared shows that the next game could very well launch this decade as the year starts with 202 before the final number is blurred out.

In a reply to a fan asking about a year, the account says it’s coming “definitely in the future”.

Metro Awakening, the next game in the series, is a spin-off gaming being developed by VertigoGames. It’s slated to launch later this year for Steam VR, Meta Quest, and PlayStation VR 2.
