After rumors picked up steam the last 24 hours, an event to look at upcoming Xbox games will finally be announced. As reported by Jez Corden of Windows Central, Xbox is set to hold a new event later this month.
Reportedly to be called “Xbox Developer_Direct”, this new event will take place on January 25 at 3 pm EST/12 pm PST. The showcase will feature games from Xbox and Bethesda, the report states.
Games set to be shown at the event are Redfall, Forza Motorsport, and Minecraft Legends. ZeniMax Online Studios is also expected to have some sort of presence. One game that may not make an appearance is the highly-anticipated and massively hyped Starfield from Bethesda.
According to Corden, the new Xbox Developer_Direct event will be a “more intimate look at some upcoming exclusives”. Starfield, he says, might not be shown in order to be saved for a larger-scale event later this year.
Alongside this report came a Tweet from Xbox Games Marketing Vice President Aaron Greenberg saying, “This should be a fun week, excited for the days to progress!”.
Insider Gaming sources have also suggested that some form of an Xbox Showcase is scheduled in the coming weeks. We have reached out to Microsoft for comment. Should a response be received, this story will be updated accordingly.
News of an upcoming showcase began in December when Corden and his Xbox2 co-host Rand Al Thor said that had been hearing rumors of an early 2023 show. Corden has been on top of this since day one, despite trying to get people off the scent by stating that the announcement was about Oreos.
