In a new blog post today, Xbox officially announced the Sky Cipher Special Edition controller, as which releases alongside a new packaging design.
The announcement partly confirms a previous leak from earlier this month, which correctly estimated Xbox will introduce the Sky Cipher controller this August.
Xbox now reveals that Sky Cipher has a blue and transparent design, and today’s post acknowledges the nostalgia factor of the latter. The controller also has “metallic features and silver interior parts that shine through from inside.”
Fans can pre-order the controller today in some Xbox markets. Xbox revealed the controller’s estimated price tag is $69.99. According to the product page, the Sky Cipher controller will be available soon on August 13, 2024.
The design also includes two-tone thumbsticks, as well as metallic triggers and a matching D-pad.
Xbox added that the Sky Cipher will include a brand-new packaging design aiming to reduce the product carbon footprint.
Today’s blog says Sky Cipher’s packaging removes single-use plastics and the paper manual. Instead, Xbox replaced the latter with a QR code. Xbox also revealed that the new packaging will be about 20 percent smaller and lighter apiece.
Most recently, Xbox made headlines after introducing an amusing Deadpool-themed controller, and later a Wolverine counterpart. However, these controllers are only available via giveaways, so fans cannot purchase them outright.
