Xbox “Isn’t Blessed” With Large Budget, EMEA Marketing Director Says

The EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) marketing director at Xbox says that the company “isn’t blessed” with a large budget in the region, leading to PlayStation outspending them on marketing in the region.

In an interview with Marketing Week, Michael Flatt said that Xbox needs to “work really hard” against the competition. That work includes being “quite scrappy”.

“They’re [PlayStation] blessed with marketing funds that we’re just not able to enjoy,” Flatt said. “But that’s totally fine. We adopt what I would call a more fiscally responsible approach to media investments.”

He continued: “We’re not blessed with huge media budgets, so we have to be quite scrappy really, and quite tenacious to fight for funds that would probably go somewhere else.”

This interview comes after claims of Microsoft looking to stop pushing console sales in the EMEA region. Instead, Xbox will reportedly put more of a focus on Game Pass, Cloud Gaming, PC, and Xbox controllers.

  • They have the money, they just don’t want to send it to that region. Fix your argument bait headline please.
