The release date for WWE 2K23 appears to have leaked ahead of the game’s official reveal later this month.
A tweet shared by reliable Microsoft store data miner ALumia_Italia listed the WWE 2K23 Cross-Gen Digital Edition release date as March 17 on Xbox. The post was swiftly deleted, presumably having been removed due to a request from 2K for copyright infringement.
As usual, however, this wasn’t fast enough to stop eyes on the internet from spotting the information before it vanished, and Insider Gaming was able to confirm its legitimacy.
An official reveal of the upcoming WWE title is set to take place on January 28 at this year’s Royal Rumble in San Antonio, Texas. The event will feature a hands-on gameplay session with WWE 2K23 and also reveal a brand-new game mode.
Don’t expect to see all that appear online immediately though, as information gathered on WWE 2K23 from the event looks to be embargoed until Tuesday, January 31. Further details are also expected to follow on February 1.
The leak of a cross-gen version of the game will be reassuring news for WWE fans concerned that the new edition could have been exclusive to the current generation consoles of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. While the title in the leak only referenced Xbox, it is expected that the game will make its way to both PS4 and PS5 and well.
Developers at 2K are reportedly “really happy” with the progress of WWE 2K23, and the team expects an even more positive response to the game than with last year’s instalment in the series.
