In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players have the opportunity to seek out 5 legendary animals to create sumi-e, exquisite drawings that can adorn their Hideout.
Thanks to the enhanced seasonal system, these legendary animals only appear at specific times of day and during particular seasons. Because of this, we’ve prepared this guide to facilitate your experience and, of course, your pursuit of these legendary creatures.
Locating and sketching all five legendary animals in Assassin’s Creed Shadows will reward you with the silver trophy “A Rare Occurrence,” an essential trophy for achieving the platinum. Without a guide, you could spend hundreds of hours without ever sighting one of these creatures, which possess a connection to Japanese mythology.
It’s important to note that the spawns aren’t guaranteed, even at the correct season and time period. If they don’t spawn at the spots mentioned below, walk away for about 300 meters and come back. This makes the spawn zone resets and you can keep retrying until they show up.
Check out the locations below:
Legendary Crane – Located on the right side of Lake Suigetsu, Wakasa – Appears only during the Winter Season between 7 AM and 9 PM.

The Legendary Wise Monkeys (Legendary Monkey) – In the Little Leaf Glade, slightly north of Sarumaru Shrine, in Yamashiro – Appears in any season but only at night.

The Legendary White Tanuki (Legendary Tanuki) – In The Shimmering Fields, on the right of Mouth of Seta in Omi. Appears only in Summer, between 7 AM and 9 PM.

The Legendary Silver Fox (Legendary Fox) – At Kamimisu Inari Shrine, on the left of the Nakahechi Route in Kii. Appears only in Autumn during the Night.

Legendary Sakura Sika Deer (Legendary Deer) – In the Sakura Meadow, on the left of Yoshino in Yamato province.

After you draw every legendary creature, you can make your hideout look way better with them. For this, check our guide that explains how to add animals in the Hideout. You can also better understand the size of the AC Shadows map in our map guide.
