What’s New in Level Zero: Extraction?

Level Zero: Extraction—an extraction shooter that combines horror elements with the genre’s iconic formula—released mid-August to a relatively mediocre reception. It’s still sitting at ‘Mixed’ reviews on Steam. But since its launch, developer Doghowl Games has worked diligently to improve the core experience and include additional content, as per requests by the community. Here’s everything new in Level Zero: Extraction since launch!

Everything New in Level Zero: Extraction Since Release

Since launch, fans have requested numerous features and mechanics in Level Zero: Extraction, especially a solo play mode, improved movement, and faster access to weapons. Well, Doghowl listened to its community, and we’re now on update 0.5.0 of Level Zero: Extraction and the game feels better and more fluid overall.

  • Solo Mode: Featuring nine mercenaries and a single alien vying for loot and escape on the map.
  • Movement Improvements: A complete rework of the mercenary animation systems for more fluid movement.
  • Gunplay Improvements: Greater feedback when shooting, switching weapons, aiming, and more.
  • Faster Access to Weapons: Instead of starting the game with a nail gun, you now receive the handgun and can upgrade to military-grade weapons quicker.
  • Progression Overhaul: Following the game’s wipe, acquiring levels and better equipment takes less time, so players can dive straight into the action.
  • Weekly Events: Doghowl intends to host weekly events, occurring every weekend, with unique mechanics, goals, and rewards.
  • New Items: Additional weapons, grenades, syringes, and Merc and Alien rewards to earn.
  • Better Onboarding: New tutorial mechanics to help new players dive into the game and learn the core mechanics.

When Does Level Zero: Extraction Wipe?

This is a total wipe, meaning all player progress and vendor reputation are entirely erased, so everyone must start fresh!
