What’s New in Factorio Space Age? Here’s What the First DLC Brings to the Table!

If you’ve spent hundreds or thousands of hours playing through the base game, everything new in Factorio Space Age probably looks like the most enticing content you’ve ever seen. The DLC takes the factory and automation game to the next level, sending you soaring through the skies to construct your production empire on floating space platforms with limited space. It’s challenging, but all-new toys help make the task easier. Here’s everything new in Factorio Space Age!

Everything New in Factorio Space Age DLC

While it’s easy to say, “Oh, you can launch yourself into space,” in Factorio Space Age, that’s barely scratching the surface of what’s included in this first monolithic DLC. At $35, one would expect plenty of new content. Developer Wube Software delivers space platforms, multiple planets, advanced technology, new factory construction pieces, additional resources to harvest and refine, new enemies to contend with, and gameplay mechanics that shake up the core experience, especially while floating through the dark of space.

  • Space Platforms: A unique mechanic that allows you to build condensed factories and automation platforms with weapons systems designed to shoot asteroids, catch asteroids for processing, and unlock the ability to shuttle cargo between planets and factories.
  • Vulcanus: A hostile, volcanic planet with ash and sulfur covering most of the scenery. Here, you’ll find Tungsten for mining drills and foundries, extract lava for iron and copper, and research metallurgic technologies.
  • Fulgora: A frozen planet devoid of life, lightning storms dominate Fulgora, allowing you to harness the weather for unlimited power, all while uncovering high-tech scrap, abandoned civilization, and electromagnetic and superconducting powers through the new Holmium resource.
  • Gleba: A swampy planet covered in mist and humidity, with alien creatures roaming the surface. Here, you’ll find exotic plants and fruits that you may harvest using unique agriculture towers, and then you can cook, crush, and process the produce for biochemical engineering purposes.
  • Aquilo: A tundra constantly wrapped in the light of day, the planet necessitates heating to ensure your factory remains operational, as ice platforms provide the only stable ground upon which to build. Here, you can unlock cryogenic technology and fusion power.
  • Elevated Rails: The train system was always a challenging late-game component in the vanilla game. However, Space Age enhances the mechanic by introducing heavy-duty rail ramps that allow you to elevate the entire network. You can easily cross obstacles, build supports over water, and design multi-level intersections for uninterrupted transportation.
  • Item Quality Tiers
  • Unique Enemies
  • Defensive Capabilities
  • Space Age Music
