Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a few new mechanics that players can explore as they get to grips with the monumental open-world title. One of the newest features is the Shadows Projects menu, which allows users to accept exclusive, rotating challenges to unlock ‘Keys’. But what are Keys for in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and how can you get more of them?
In this guide, I’ll explain everything you need to know about using Keys in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Trust me, they’re very helpful things, and you’ll want to unlock more of them as early as possible.
How Do Keys Work in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
As soon as you start exploring the menus in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll notice something called the Shadows Exchange. This portion of the game features a pathway you can follow to unlock some seriously cool items, but to get your hands on them, you need to earn thousands of Keys.
But what are Keys in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Keys are digital tokens you’ll earn for completing Shadows Projects and Animus-based missions in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Once you’ve passed through a portal after a few hours in the game and spoken to a mysterious entity, you’ll notice that you have a rotation of Animus objectives at the top of the Objectives menu.
If you complete these missions, you’ll earn Keys, and once you have enough Keys, you can purchase items from the Shadows Exchange – they’re mostly cosmetic, but they’re awesome.
How to Get More Keys in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
To get more Keys in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll want to keep completing the Animus missions that pop up in the Objectives menu. They’re basic, repetitive missions, but they’re rewarding, and with enough completed, you’ll be able to unlock some seriously sweet items from the Shadows Exchange.
You’ll also find random data drops around the open world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, floating in strategic spots. By collecting these, you’ll earn a few Keys that go towards your total collection.
Bear in mind that it will take tens of thousands of Keys – if not more – to unlock everything on offer in the Shadows Exchange, so be prepared for a grind.
