Valorant Getting New ‘Anti-Toxicity’ Feature, It’s Claimed

It has been claimed that Valorant is getting a sorely needed update in the anti-toxicity stakes. For the longest time, Valorant has been a minefield for gamers worldwide, and the in-match communications systems are typically flooded with insults, derogatory comments, and abuse.

Now, in the latest bid to tackle that toxicity, Riot Games is reportedly preparing to roll out a ‘Black List’ feature in the game. This claim comes mere months after Riot Games overhauled Valorant’s guidelines in an effort to push more toxic players off of the platform.

What Is The ‘Black List’ in Valorant?

Per the claims on social media from Valorant Updates, the team at Riot is preparing to roll out the ‘Black List’ feature, which is a fancy name for a blocking mechanic. It seems bizarre that this doesn’t already exist, but we’ll chalk it up to it having been an oversight by Riot Games for the last four years.

It has been suggested that the Black List in Valorant would allow players to block and restrict other users, preventing them from messaging them, speaking to them in any way, or from sending them friend requests through the platform.

It’s good, but many players were quick to point out that a better feature would be an ‘Avoid Player’ mechanic. When you add a player to that list, you’ll never be matched with them again, essentially.

That’s a much more effective way to avoid malicious players, but perhaps that’s the next step for Riot Games.

Have you ever come up against toxic players in Valorant? Let us know in the comments.
