Until Dawn Remake is not out until October 4, 2024; however, a day before the intended release date, the game’s ending has leaked, which hints towards a sequel.
Spoilers ahead for players who haven’t played the original game.
Spotted on r/untildawn (via Eurogamer), Until Dawn Remake developers have added an entirely new ending that paves the way for a sequel. In the original game, players could only reach two conclusions: either Josh dying or him turning into a Wendigo. However, in Until Dawn Remake, the developers have added an entirely new ending, where Josh survives.
The new Until Dawn Remake ending plays right after credits, and Dr. Hill addresses Josh, stating, “But it is a game that has driven you to one of your own deepest fears, Joshua. Isolation.” The scene ends with Joshua showing the massive scar on his forehead while Dr. Hill says, “I hope for your sake, Joshua, that you can find redemption.”
The Until Dawn Remake ending has an additional post-credit scene, where players see how Sam deals with PTSD some years after the game’s events. The scene begins with Sam asleep, and an alarm wakes her up. As she goes to stop the alarm, she finds her arm covered in blood, with someone knocking at the door. The scene ends with a mysterious voice calling her name.
A reliable insider has also weighed in on Until Dawn’s sequel. Shpeshal Nick has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to provide more information about the game. According to him, Firesprite will be developing the upcoming title.
