In a new PlayStation blog post today, developer Ballistic Moon announced that the anticipated rebuilt version of Until Dawn will launch on October 4, 2024.
Creative director Neil McEwan explained that “our intention has not been to alter the events.” However, they added that the enhanced version will rework the prologue to adjust its pacing.
McEwan also broke down the new build, which adds “updated character models, environments, interactable props, visual effects, and animations.” These improvements will be available in both the PC and PlayStation 5 versions.
Ballistic Moon also offered a new comparison trailer, including a few side-by-side glimpses of cinematics and gameplay.
Today’s blog mentioned that the rebuilt Until Dawn will also feature new collectibles, accessibility and usability settings, and the Stay Calm mechanic. Stay Calm is an alternative “for third party peripherals that do not feature a gyroscope or for players who prefer a different challenge.”
The new version just got an ESRB rating a couple of weeks ago. Fans can pre-order the “rebuilt and enhanced” version of Until Dawn starting August 21, 2024, ahead of the October release.
In the meantime, Until Dawn fans can also look forward to the live-action movie adaptation from Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions. The cast of the film recently expanded, including the return of Peter Stormare, who played Dr. Hill in Supermassive Games’ original Until Dawn.
