Twitch Streamers See Ad Revenue Plummet Amid Platform Struggles

If you’ve heard the term ‘adpocalypse’ in the streaming world and haven’t got a clue what it means, you’re not alone. Recently, it was revealed that some Twitch streamers are suffering immeasurably from plummeting ad revenue rates, and nobody knows why. On the streaming platform, some users have reported a drop in ad revenue of as much as 95%.

This adpocalypse came on suddenly and has impacted some of Twitch’s biggest streamers, some of whom were picking up thousands of dollars a month through ad revenue. They’re now looking at just a few hundred dollars, and on their end, nothing has changed.

Taken for Granted

Admittedly, this is the bread and butter earnings for some Twitch streamers. On social media, clips have surfaced showing users complaining about their ad revenue drops, such as Lacy, who stressed that his $10,000-a-day ad revenue stream has dropped to around $2,000 a day.

That’s still far, far more than the average worker earns, but for someone who has built a way of living out of those earnings, it could be devastating. Twitch allowed them to secure the bag in this way, and then without warning or forethought, the rate of earnings has been slashed immeasurably.

Imagine if your place of work suddenly cut your salary by 80% without telling you – that’s effectively what’s happening here. Sure, the creators still have subscriptions, bits, and other donations, but it’s not good.

One streamer, TheStockGuy, revealed that he’s disabling ads on his streams because the returns aren’t worth the disruption. He was reporting a 95% drop in earnings – one of the most significant examples of the adpocalypse we’ve seen.

Twitch has yet to comment on why ad revenue is plummeting – I’ve reached out for a statement in the meantime.

Do you think streamers needed their earnings adjusted, or is this an unfair change from Twitch? Let us know in the comments.

  • Lacy needs to leave Twitch I would say go to Kick but if they lost Adin there’s no point to the site anymore. Just go to Rumble all of Faze should go to Rumble I mean Rage already rubs elbows with Sneako and Kaysan did business there before. Adin should go over too if he’s honestly done with Kick. These new stupid guidelines banning people like Twitch hurt the platform. It’s one thing banning preds but banning Sneako after signing him and even banning Adin is weird it feels like xqc got out of control.

  • Twitch is trash anyways. If you have a big audience go to Kick or Rumble instead. The same problem will come to YouTube. I see Faze Clan getting conservative soon.

  • Good hopefully YouTube is next! These people are insufferable and annoying their shilling has ruined society not just entertainment.

  • Ludwig did a very well done video on it this afternoon, it’s not anything to really panic about. While Twitch has its struggles it’s not going to be one that ends the platform.

  • I didn’t really know Twitch was going through something that YT went through long ago (adpocalypse) 🧐, I have heard about kick and I’m not interested in that platform at all. I don’t mind twitch and YT for that matter since those are my go to platforms to watch the gamers I like (especially the small game content creators on both platforms) maybe twitch will respond, maybe not.

  • The usps slashes salaries like that all the time. However there should have been warnings and a system about it, I don’t disagree with them doing it to hate spewing antisemitic / hamas and war / racism pushing streamers

  • The CEO is addicted to porn he uses his work account for porn. He’ll sign these girls to Bang Bros watch that’s what he wants.

  • These streamers admaxxed to 6 minutes an hour and their content is not good. The advertisers prepay per ad. These streamers are losing ad money and viewers based on their streams, twitch did not lower the ad payout.
The fact that the streamers made so much money from ads in the first place should be examined for fraud and botting.

  • Hasan and his weirdo friends all suck but Lacy needs to get out there man’s could be making money right now on another site like take all of Faze to another site and way more cash comes in. Lacy is way better than these losers same with Jack Doherty and Johnny Somali who should stream in California. Hollywood is dead pass new laws to benefit IRL streamers in California and Tik Tokers also Only Fans girls like allow them to make public content.

  • Twitch sucks Amazon will close them down soon. Dan Clancy clearly wants to work for Brazzers I mean he has accounts on all of those websites with his work e-mail. I thought Kick was the problematic platform? Just shows you how these “content creators” are. YouTube has the same problem hopefully it hits the fan there too.
