Tony Hawk has continued to talk about the future of the Pro Skater franchise and games.
It was known that Hawk was talking to Activision about the series as it celebrated its 25th anniversary. Now, 25 years to the day that the first Tony Hawk Pro Skater game was released, Hawk has taken to Instagram to reminisce and, once again, tease what could be coming.
“My intention and expectation for the game was mostly for the enjoyment of skateboarders,” Hawk said in his post. “I had no idea it would transcend a niche market to become a massive success and – as some have argued – change the course of skateboarding’s popularity (and possibly even skate trick evolution). It definitely changed the course of my life…”
He then closed by saying, “I’m not supposed to tease anything else about the future of the series, but there will be a future.”
What that future is remains to be seen. Will it be the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 & 4 Remake that was in development by Vicarious Visions but then cancelled when the studio was merged into Activision? Has it been quietly revived? Or, could it be a brand new Tony Hawk game altogether?
Earlier in September, Hawk confirmed that he was talking to Activision again, but didn’t give much away.
“I wish I could tell you more,” Hawk said at the time. “But I can tell you that I’ve been talking to Activision again which is insanely exciting. We’re working on something.”
