In a blog post, EA announced its partnership with Amazon MGM studios yesterday, confirming The Sims movie adaptation.
As per the post, Loki’s Kate Herron will direct The Sims movie adaptation, and Briony Rodman will co-write it. Moreover, Margo Robbie’s production house, LuckyChap, and Vertigo Entertainment will produce the movie alongside the Sims team. More details about the movie will be shared during the 25th anniversary of the franchise.
Through an interview with Variety, EA’s vice president and general manager of the Sims franchise, Kate Gorman, provided additional details about The Sims movie adaptation. Gorman stated that the upcoming project is “rooted in ‘The Sims’ universe”. The movie will be a “truly authentic ‘Sims’ experience brought to a theatrical release”. However, representatives from EA stated later that distribution plans haven’t been finalised.
Gorman added that the team wishes “to make an impact the size of something like a ‘Barbie’ movie” with The Sims movie adaptation. Moreover, players will see “a lot of the classic experiences” come to life as they aim to offer “ the most expansive ‘Sims’ offering we’ve ever had”. This also means easter eggs, such as freezer bunnies, pools without ladders and much more.
In other news, EA is no longer releasing The Sims 5 and will stick to regular updates for The Sims 4. Also, Red Dead Redemption PC metadata was spotted in yesterday’s launcher update. What are your thoughts on The Sims movie adaptation? Let us know in the comments or our new community forum!
