Tekken Boss Wanted to Add KFC’s Colonel Sanders to the Roster

Tekken boss Katsuhiro Harada and game designer Michael Murray recently revealed how they tried to bring KFC’s Colonel Sanders as a fighter but were ultimately rejected.

During an interview with The Gamer, Katsuhiro Harada revealed that he had an idea to include KFC’s iconic mascot, Colonel Sanders, in the Tekken roster. To pitch this character, he visited the head office in Japan. However, Harada’s proposal was met with disapproval, as he received a “bad look”, and the idea was ultimately rejected.

Murray provided more context, stating that the people at KFC’s headquarters “weren’t very open to the idea” when Harada attempted to include Colonel Sanders in the Tekken roster. However, Colonel Sanders appeared in other games after that discussion, leading Murray to believe that “maybe it was just him fighting against someone” was the problem. He concluded, “It just goes to show how difficult these types of discussions are.”

Talking about Tekken characters, Heihachi Mishima is back in Tekken 8. Mishima is available for 72 hours of early access for Playable Character Year 1 Pass holders. At the same time, the developers have also introduced a new stage called Genmaji Temple, a new story episode called Unforgotten Echoes, feature improvements, bug fixes and more.

In other news, players will require 50GB of free space to install Silent Hill 2 Remake. Also, Ironmouse has beaten the all-time high Twitch subscriber record. What are your thoughts on Tekken trying to get KFC’s Colonel Sanders as a fighter? Let us know in the comments or our new community forum!
