Weta Workshop has just announced a sizeable delay of Tales of the Shire, pushing the game back to early 2025. This news was delivered with a message that the team wants to make sure the game is ‘everything you’re hoping for’, and to meet that standard, it has decided to delay the release.
It was originally due to be released in the coming months.
Cosy Hobbit-Style Living
Tales of the Shire will be a boon for Lord of the Rings fans when it drops next year. It’s a classic cosy game that offers players the ability to live out the life of a Hobbit in the Shire.
It all starts with the creation of a unique Hobbit, after which you’ll be charged with creating and furnishing your Hobbit Hole. As the game unravels, you’ll find yourself fishing, gardening, foraging, and trading and interacting with locals. It’s built to be a relaxing, heartwarming game, so it’s light on the action – but that’s the life of a (typical) Hobbit.
On September 22, Weta Workshop is hosting a multi-platform showcase event to dive a little deeper into the gameplay loop and world of Tales of the Shire. It’s not known if a new release date will be confirmed during this showcase, as all we know now is that it’ll drop in the first few months of 2025.
If you’re eager to pick up a new cosy game to join the likes of Stardew Valley, be sure to keep an eye open for Tales of the Shire.
