One of the biggest things to happen in December was the leak and subsequent release of the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6. In speaking with IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that he was disappointed by the leak, but it didn’t ultimately hurt the company.
“It’s amazing when the trailer announcement is huge news, and then we were very gratified when the trailer broke the internet…so we couldn’t be happier or more excited,” Zelnick said. “In terms of the leak, that’s always disappointing for the team, but ultimately, I don’t think it hurt us.”
GTA 6 features the game’s first female protagonist, Lucia, and returns to Vice City in the state of Leonida. It’s also expected that players will be able to travel to different locations within the game outside of Vice City.
Since it was posted online, the GTA 6 trailer has over 174M views on its official channel. The game is currently scheduled for a release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S during the 2025 calendar year. Much like GTA 5, the game won’t be released on PC during first launch.
