Frost Giant Studios has announced the early access release date for its upcoming real-time strategy game Stormgate. Stormgate will launch for free in early access on August 13 for PC via Steam.
Those who want to get in sooner can pre-purchase an “early access pack” to play starting today. Along with the announcement comes a new gameplay trailer.
Stormgate comes from a studio founded by former Blizzard developers Tim Morten and Tim Campbell. Morten had previously worked on StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void as production lead while Campbell was the campaign lead designer on Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne.
“Stormgate is Frost Giant Studios’ love letter to classic RTS games and a work of passion and dedication from our team,” the studio said. “Early Access is an essential milestone in our journey, but far from the final destination.
The initial release in early access will offer competitive 1v1 play, the beginning of the game’s campaign, three-player co-op missions, and custom games.
“We plan on telling more stories, introducing new game modes, and sharing the tools we’ve been using to build our game with the community,” Frost Giant Studios said.
