Ubisoft Has Put More Money Into Marketing Star Wars Outlaws Than Any Other Game

In a recent financial update, Ubisoft’s CEO revealed that the firm has put more money and effort into marketing Star Wars Outlaws than any other Ubisoft game ever released. He also stressed that the company expects a strong launch based on the ‘positive community sentiment’ circulating the project.

However, a recent gameplay video that surfaced online drew negative feedback based on how ‘unpolished’ the game looks – and it’s hitting the market in just one month.

Marketing = Success, Apparently

During the recent earnings call, Yves Guillemot, the long-time CEO of Ubisoft, said:

What we are factoring in is a strong launch for Star Wars Outlaws. That’s the fact that it’s among the most awaited games of the industry this year and reflecting a really strong positive community sentiment, and also the fact that we are coming with the biggest marketing campaign ever so far for a Ubisoft game.

It would be interesting to see the numbers, as some Ubisoft titles, such as 2014’s Watch Dogs, had masterful marketing campaigns that included extensive trailers, CGI and live-action representations, billboards, ad spots, and more. Some estimates put the marketing budgets for Assassin’s Creed titles in the hundreds of millions of dollars. By comparison, I don’t feel as though Star Wars Outlaws has enjoyed that prolific a marketing campaign.

Ubisoft thinks the next few months will be monumental for the business. This is mostly because of the impending releases of both Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but also because of the ongoing energy around live service titles like Rainbow Six Siege and XDefiant, which has exceeded expectations since being released in May 2024.

  • Is this why they can’t deliver on games? Splinter Cell remake, Prince Of Persia remake, and Beyond Good & Evil 2. If these projects flop will they finally sell Ubisoft off? Also AC will flop with the whole cultural appropriation of Japanese culture with Yasuke and that now being a whole new issue of it being fake and a western writer being responsible for that lie and infringing on Japanese history to push his own agenda and others capitalized on that to push the same agenda. Star Wars is dead the only games that could maybe do well would be KOTOR and Force Unleashed sequels and remakes maybe 1313 or the Cade Skywalker era.

  • Lol, because no one wants it, it just more ubislop.. same shit, different skin.. they do the same old crap every game.. it’s so boring now.. not to mention disney killed star wars..

  • Game is going to “fail to meet expectations” as PER USUAL, just like ever other woke / DEI infested garbage pile.. Then of course they will just blame the fans/customers and call them toxic and racist when it does fail. What an absolute joke.

  • They can spend as much as they want in their marketing campaigns. I am done with them, am not pre ordering any of their games again.
