How Much Does Star Trucker Cost in Early Access? – Answered

For weeks now, anyone excited about the upcoming transportation simulation game Star Trucker has had a single question on their minds: How much does the game cost? The developer has kept quiet about the price, leaving many to speculate and start rumors about an overly expensive indie game. But that’s no longer the case. So, how much does Star Trucker cost in Early Access?

What Does Star Trucker Cost?

When Star Trucker launches on September 3, it will cost $24.99 for the base game, but release with a 10% launch discount. On top of the main game, the team also intends to launch a few additional packs, including the soundtrack for $6.99 (including a few wallpapers), a cosmetic DLC for $2.99, and a Deluxe Edition for $29.72.

The price is agreeable as far as indie games go, especially those within the simulation genre. I was expecting something around $34.99, especially considering this isn’t your typical auto-simulation game; it’s more niche, set in space with unique space travel mechanics that set it apart. But I’m excited to see a reasonable price tag, and it’s definitely a day-one buy for me!

Is Star Trucker an Open-Ended Simulator?

One of the main selling points of a simulator is that you can—theoretically—play the game endlessly. I mean, there are still people playing American Truck Simulator (It’s me; I’m still playing it) more than a decade later. Now that we know the price of Star Trucker, will you get your money’s worth?

According to the developer, absolutely! It’s an open-ended game with procedurally generated cargo jobs. In a recent AMA, they said:

Yup! You’re free to take procedurally generated cargo jobs whenever you want. We also have a mode / custom settings that allow you to reduce maintenance gameplay and focus on the hauling.

However it’s worth noting that ( for now ) you’ll still need to help out on “some” side-jobs to get clearance for exploring the entire galaxy.

You can focus on the storylines, and many of us likely will at first, but after that, it’s time to haul cargo endlessly across the stars!

Speaking of exploring the unknown, albeit in a completely different setting, did you hear that Enotria: The Last Song is delayed indefinitely on Xbox?
