GSC Game World has just announced that Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been delayed again by another two months. It will now be released on November 20, 2024. This will come as a blow to the fans who were expecting to get their hands on the post-apocalyptic, open-world epic this coming September. It has been years since Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl was revealed, but countless issues have surfaced that prevented GSC from delivering the game according to an original timeline.
Self-Awareness
In a brief trailer, GSC Game World revealed the delay with a tongue-in-cheek nod to the fact that it is just the latest in a long line of postponements. The video is even titled ‘Really, Again?’
It’s not all bad news, though. The revelation was accompanied by the promise of a developer-led deep dive into Stalker 2 on August 12. This will give players an unparalleled look at the game behind the scenes and on the surface, with GSC walking through an entire story quest and hosting panels and new development footage.
In a statement, the game director at GSC, Yevhen Grygorovych, said:
We know you might be tired of waiting, and we truly appreciate your patience. These two additional months will give us the chance to fix more “unexpected anomalies” (or simply “bugs”, as you call them). We are always grateful for your ongoing support and understanding – it means the world to us. We’re just as eager as you are to finally release the game and for you to experience it for yourself.
It has been a long journey, and it has just gotten a little longer. Given how good the game looks, it’s a small price to pay to have any remaining bugs ironed out of it before it hits the market.
