Developer 1047 Games has officially announced Splitgate 2 with a release window of 2025, as well as a cinematic trailer.
The trailer may not include gameplay, but it does showcase the potential mechanics, weapons, cosmetics, and stages. It also concludes by revealing the platforms for the anticipated sequel.
Splitgate 2 will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. It will also release on consoles via the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Fans can wishlist the game now.
The trailer description reveals more details about the game and its roster of “Aces.” It confirms that Aeros is agile with dashing abilities, Meridian can manipulate time, and Sabrask will be a tank. The description also teases the Ozone map, a flying super yacht.
Today’s announcement follows a cryptic tease from the developer earlier this week. Free-to-play shooter Splitgate, featuring portals similar to the game Portal, last updated in September 2022. After its final update, the devs confirmed a new game in the Splitgate universe, built in Unreal.
1047 Games also spoke to PlayStation in a new blog today. The devs revealed that “we’ll have a lot more to share in August.” They also confirmed that it will be free to play, and feature a faction system.
The team describes Splitgate 2 as a multiplayer-only AAA shooter. It will have “completely new character models, new maps, new weapons, and even new portal walls and portals.”
