Split Fiction Trophy and Achievement Guide

Split Fiction is the new title from Hazelight Studios, the acclaimed team responsible for the excellent “A Way Out” and “It Takes Two.” This new adventure follow the studio’s established design principles, promising an immersive and unforgettable experience tailored for cooperative gameplay between two players.

Split Fiction incorporates cross-platform functionality, enabling players to engage in the adventure alongside friends on different platforms. Furthermore, the game features a “Friend Pass” system, allowing players to invite individuals who do not possess the game to participate in its entirety.

In prior Hazelight releases, invited participants did not acquire trophies or achievements. We still couldn’t confirm if that’s the same case here.

  • Difficulty: 4/10
  • Estimated Completion Time: 12 hours
  • Missable Trophies/Achievements: None; chapter selection is available.
  • Total Trophies/Achievements: 21. 1 Platinum, 8 Gold, 5 Silver, 7 Bronze.

For your convenience, our Split Fiction Trophy Guide has been reordered to align with the chronological progression of the campaign. Only the collectibles (the benches and the portals to the side stories) are presented out of sequential order.

Checkpoint – Stage Neon Revenge > Play Me Techno

When you have to interact with the basketball, notice that there is a bridge with people passing near the ball collection point. Throw the ball in the glass to make the trophy pop!

Rose’s Best Friend
You made her cry

Checkpoint – Stage Neon Revenge > Play Me Techno

On the main story path, at a certain point you’ll spot a gigantic stuffed elephant. Yes, it’s a direct reference to It Takes Two. Tear it appart with Zoe’s powers to obtain the trophy!

Goin’ Whole Hog
Let it Rip

Checkpoint – Stage Neon Revenge > Streets of Neon > Farmlife

In the second “side story”, you’ll be playing as two pigs. At one point, you’ll come across a huge pig taking a nap. The player using Mio should use their fart “dash” ability right on the sleeping pig’s stomach. The cutscene that follows is guaranteed to make you laugh!

Huffing and Puffing
It’s not the big bad wolf you have to worry about

Checkpoint – Stage Neon Revenge > Streets of Neon > Farmlife

On the main path of the second side story in the Neon Vengeance stage, you’ll come across a brick house with a little pig inside. He’ll taunt you and say his house is indestructible. Using the pig controlled by Mio, go to the back of the house and use the fart to blow it up.

Robot Revolution
Hasta la vista, baby

Checkpoint – Stage Neon Revenge > Flipped Cityscapes

When you enter the building’s lobby, after going through the metal detector, you’ll see a very friendly little robot. Beat it up with Mio until it fights back, and the trophy will pop.

You Are Not a Robot
Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart

Checkpoint – Stage Neon Revenge > Gravity Bike

During the motorcycle chase sequence, a self-destruct protocol will be activated. Whoever is playing as Zoe will need to complete several ‘puzzles’ on the phone. Get ready to laugh a lot and, of course, be VERY fast.

The player controlling Mio needs to make sure not to accelerate too much on the motorcycle. If you reach the end of the course without deactivating the destruction protocol, the trophy won’t pop. The phone needs to display ‘100%’.

Use both analog sticks to move the cursor faster. At the beginning, swipe the screen. When prompted to find the giraffe, press skip. In the terms, click to read the terms. When typing bke xqj (When typing bke, don’t let the autocorrect fill in the word, click on the word ‘bke’ above).”

A Friendly Push
Monkey strong

Checkpoint – Stage Hopes of Spring > The Underlands

At a certain point in the stage, you’ll find an open area with a swing. Have the player controlling Zoe sit on the swing, and with Mio, in monkey form, punch the swing.

Cold Potato
Complete the Gameshow without the bomb exploding

Checkpoint – Stage Hopes of Spring > Walking Stick of Doom > Gameshow

The Gameshow is one of the side stories in the Hopes of Spring stage. It’s almost impossible to miss the entrance to it.

This side story is actually a minigame where Mio and Zoe need to cooperate to carry a bomb to the disposal point. To get the trophy, you can’t let the bomb explode, die, or go back to the checkpoint!

If the bomb falls or someone dies, restart the story from scratch via the menu. The minigame isn’t too difficult but requires coordination between the duo. Always warn your friend when you’re about to throw the bomb so they’re alert.

And remember, you can carry the bomb for a few seconds, there’s no need to rush!

One Bird, Three Stones
You couldn’t have known

Checkpoint – Stage Hopes of Spring > Halls of Ice

Right at the castle entrance, you’ll notice a snowman with 3 snowballs near it. Throw all three of them in monkey form, and the trophy will pop.

Potion Chef
I need your strongest potions

Checkpoint – Final Dawn > Test Chamber > Moon Market

To obtain this trophy, you need to reach the center of the Lunar Market. There, you’ll find a potion shop with a recipe board next to a cauldron. Craft all the recipes and the trophy will pop!

Chair the Load
Get off me…

Checkpoint – Final Dawn > Test Chamber > Moon Market

Near the potion shop, you’ll find a tent with a magic wand. Pick up the wand and shoot your partner until they’re transformed into a chair. Sit on it and the trophy will pop!

The Cake Is Not a Lie
Congratulations, the test is now over

Checkpoint – Final Dawn > Run and Gun

At a certain point in the stage, with teleportation ducts, jump on the wall and go to the left to open a secret room that references the game Portal.

Feed Me
Take a snack

Checkpoint – Rise of the Dragon Realm > Water Temple

At a certain point in the stage, you’ll come across a tree full of fruit. Pick one, and the dragon will automatically eat it, making the trophy pop.

Bookworms
Complete all side stories

Split Fiction has 12 side stories. These side stories appear in the form of portals within the stages that transport you to another world. Of the 12, 11 are on the main path, and Zoe always warns you when one is near. Only the third story in Neon Vengeance is not on an obvious path. Check out the complete list of portals below:

Neon Vengeance:

  • The Legend of the Sandfish: On the main path, it’s almost impossible to miss this portal.

  • Farmlife: At a certain point in the stage, you’ll need to go up the elevator. Right in front of you, before going up the elevator, you’ll see a metal grate, and the portal is behind the structure.
  • Mountain Hike: When you have to interact with the chemical toilets, don’t pass the traffic yet. Ask your partner, who is playing Mio, to enter the chemical toilet. As Zoe, grab the chemical toilet and throw it at the structure on the opposite side of the traffic. You’ll see that there’s a blocked staircase in the place. Kick on it so Zoe can move towards you and enter the portal.

Hopes of Spring:

  • Train Heist: After passing the section where you need to guide the pole using Mio’s fish transformation, you will see this portal.
  • Gameshow: In the left path after passing the wood bridge where a giant Ent stomps. It’s almost impossible to miss this portal.
  • Collapsing Star: After breaking the window in the Ice King’s Castle, you’ll climb to the top of a tower. This portal is right at the top.

Last Dawn:

  • Kites: After leaving the discs, this portal will be in the path.
  • Moon Market: You’ll see a bridge with plush fish. Shoot the two locks to activate the bridge to the portal.
  • Notebook: You’ll see this portal as soon as you reach the open area with the Jetpack.

Dragon Rise:

  • Slopes of War: After you complete the puzzle involving the zipline for Zoe to climb, you’ll come across the entrance to this second story. Complete the platform puzzle to reach it.”
