‘No Plans For Additional Story Content’ For Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Confirms

In a blog post outlining the arrival of Spider-Man 2 on PC, it was confirmed by Insomniac Games that the title will get no additional story content. The release of Spider-Man 2 on PC, which is happening on January 30, will bring an all-new audience of players to the game and they’ll soak up everything added thus far, but there are no plans to add any more story content.

Shut Down

It has been a year since Spider-Man 2 was released, and for most of that time, fans of the web-slinging, open-world game have been asking Insomniac when the DLC is coming.

That question was definitively answered recently by the developer.

While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re delighted to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version, including New Game+, new suits and color variants, Photo Mode features, and more.

It then goes on to explain that this isn’t the end of the road for Spider-Man 2, as costume collaborations are on the way.

The first Marvel Spider-Man title was released in 2018 on PlayStation 4, and that game received an expansion not long after launch, dubbed ‘The City That Never Sleeps’. Eventually, Insomniac published a spin-off – Spider-Man: Miles Morales. There are no indications that any content like this will be made available for Spider-Man 2.

Recently, it was suggested that Insomniac is now leaning more heavily into the development of Wolverine and that reportedly, a new teaser or trailer will be revealed before the year is out.

Are you disappointed that Spider-Man 2 will have no additional story DLC released? Let us know on the Insider Gaming forum.

  • That’s bullshit! They made fans wait for nothing! Where’s the Venom game is that not happening either? Sony is just a mess!

  • They should have said this from the beginning because of the last game we all assumed DLC was on the way. Marvel and DC games right now are just taking L’s more so DC but still. Spider-Man 3 I assume they make Miles the main guy and finally retire Peter for good I mean they could kill him off that would be fine I heard the movies want to do the same thing. Not sure how Silk is handled though in the comics she and Peter are really sexual so is he going to be portrayed as a pred and it shows the negative side of hero worship or is that just thrown out? I feel it’s also too late to bring Eddie in now and really no point they could use one of the other Venom’s instead like the middle eastern one or hispanic one.

  • I heard a rumor a while back that PlayStation was in talk for some DC licensed games is that true like a Insomniac Batman game? Also a while back Maximilian Dood said that a NRS DC VS Marvel game was happening and a Marvel NRS game is that true or was it ever true?

  • Hopefully this means Spider-Man 3 comes out this gen then. It’ll have a lot going on tho Carnage, Green Goblin, Peter dying, the origin of Silk like that’s a lot for 1 game.

  • Sony needs to fire these people they can’t deliver at all not just these guys but the other studios too all take too long. I just read that Spider-Man 2 sold half of what the first game sold and Miles Morales flopped apparently this game sold similar to that. Maybe that’s why no DLC? Heard Ghost Of Yotei has similar problems like it will get delayed and it’s janky.

  • In way less time Wukong sold way more than Spider-Man 2. China needs to make some open world games next a GTA clone and a superhero game.
