I lean heavily toward single-player games unless we’re discussing a bombastic horde shooter, such as Killing Floor 2 or World War Z. Then, I prefer co-op. It appears Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 takes a page out of the studio’s previous title, World War Z, offering massive hordes of enemies. That’s the experience where you want a pal along for the ride! So, here’s what we know about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 multiplayer!
Is Space Marine 2 Co-op?
By now, you’ve likely heard that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 offers some form of multiplayer, but let’s elaborate. Alongside a single-player campaign, you can take on the entire story mode alongside two other players for a three-player co-op action-adventure.
Alongside a co-op campaign, Space Marine 2 also boasts Operations. These are mission-based PvE rounds for, once again, up to three players to tackle simultaneously. Each mission has unique objectives, and you can play with the game’s class system to find a playstyle that suits your preferences in PvE.
Supposedly, Operations tie into the game’s main story. For example, your squad of Ultramarines will take down an objective on the sidelines that makes Titus’ mission easier in the campaign—at least from a lore and story perspective. Whether it influences the campaign remains to be seen, but it feels unlikely.

Is Space Marine 2 PvP?
If you prefer more competitive play, Space Marine 2 offers a 6v6 PvP game mode: Eternal War. You’ll pick a class, join a group of pub players or party with a few friends, and face off in head-to-head combat with another party of six Space Marines.
The same weapons you’ll wield in the campaign and PvE mode, including Thunder Hammers and Bolters, will return for the PvP experience. As such, it’s probably best to find a good mix of playstyles to help dominate the battlefield from afar and in close-quarters combat.
There’s a lot of content in Space Marine 2 to keep us busy through the end of the year, but don’t forget about October. Recently, we looked at all of the Black Ops 6 achievements!
