It’s obvious that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was designed from the ground up with cooperative play in mind. However, how to play the Space Marine 2 campaign in co-op is not immediately apparent. We’re here to help you gather a party of Ultramarines to stomp a few Tyranid skulls!
How to Play Co-op in the Space Marine 2 Campaign
To unlock the ability to play co-op in the Space Marine 2 campaign, you must either complete the first prologue mission, in which you play solo as Titus without a squad, or skip the tutorial mission and move directly to the Battle Barge. Either way, once you reach the Battle Barge, multiplayer unlocks.
To play the Space Marine 2 campaign in co-op, look to the top right of your HUD, where you will see an option to “Edit Squad.” The hotkey to access this menu is “Y,” no matter what device you’re using. Once you access the menu, you’ll note two free slots in your squad, denoted with “+” icons indicating that you may invite another player to your party. Scroll down to either one of these icons to invite a co-op partner to the game. It will automatically open your Friends List, where you may choose anyone online.

How to Play Co-op Operations in Space Marine 2
On top of the co-op Campaign, you can also play cooperatively with up to three players in the game’s PvE Operations game mode, which currently features six missions that run alongside the main storyline. To access this co-op content, you must reach the Battle Barge, as mentioned previously, and then walk up to the terminal indicated in the screenshot above beside the landing pad.
Interact with the terminal by holding down “E” on your keyboard or “X” on your controller, and then select Operations from the top menu. Here, you can choose Quick Match to automatically party with random players and join any of the six available Operations. You can also select which one you’d like to play from the list.
