Sony’s Immersive Concept Showcases New Ways to Experience The Last of Us

As part of CES 2025, Sony showcased new ways to experience the world of The Last of Us through its Future Immersive Entertainment Concept.

A video posted on Sony’s official YouTube channel revealed a proof-concept project they have been working on with Naughty Dog. With the help of Location Based Technologies, they have developed a massive set of Sony Crystal LED panels with “engaging audio, haptics, scent and atmospherics.” The set then replicates different scenes from the game, allowing players to actually live and breathe in the world of The Last of Us.

Sony’s video also showcases several players trying out this immersive The Last of Us experience. We see the players holding actual gun models while playing through different sequences from the game. They explore dark and eerie environments, use flashlights and other tools and, most importantly, fend off hordes of the undead. The ominous feeling of a zombie creeping up on you will not get more real than this.

Sony’s immersive The Last of Us concept project aimed to propagate its idea of Narratives Everywhere. Using storytelling and technology, the company seeks to innovate across brand-new mediums to bring even more unique experiences to the player.

In other news, The Last of Us Season 2 also received a release date and a new trailer at CES 2025. Also, Kanye West recently called the sequel, ‘the best game ever made’. What are your thoughts on Sony’s immersive The Last of Us experience? Let us know in the comments or our community forum!
