In Sons of The Forest, finding and collecting water is one of the most important survival skills you’ll need in being able to survive. Here’s how to find and collect water in Sons of The Forest.
Loot Drinks at The Start
When starting off in Sons of the Forest, you’ll want to make the process of survival as easy as possible. When starting, look for suitcases scattered around the immediate area and search them for drinks. These drinks are the easiest way in which you’ll be able to survive before heading out into the forest to find a more reliable water source.
Eat Yarrow Berries in Emergencies
As you scout for water, you might find that you run out of your already looted drinks rather quickly. In this case, eat Yarrow and Berries to slightly replenish your thirst meter. Blueberries, Salmonberries, and Blackberries are the most common berries to find, but it’s best to find and eat Yarrow. Yarrow are white flowers scattered commonly throughout the map and eating them will restore your thirst better than eating berries.
How to Find Water in Sons of The Forrest
Finding water is pretty self-explanatory, but you’re going to need to find a river. Drinking from the ocean is a no-go, so only drink from freshwater sources. To drink from the river, simply unequip anything you’re holding by hitting the “G” key and crouch down by the river. From there you’ll be able to interact and use your hands to drink from the river.
Of course, this isn’t a suitable way of continuously replenishing your thirst, but it’s useful in emergencies. To survive for much long in Sons of The Forest, you’ll need to collect water.
How to Collect Water in Sons of The Forest
Collecting water is fairly basic and there are two ways in which you can do this. The first method is to use Water Collector, which is made with a turtle shell. To find a turtle shell in Sons of The Forest, you’ll first need to head to the ocean (remember do not drink the ocean water) and find yourself a turtle. Small turtles are fine, but if you want a larger amount of water collection its best to find and kill the bigger ones.
Once you’ve killed the turtle, collect its shell and place it on the ground. We advise that you place a decent number of shells near your base to start, just so you have a large reserve of water when needed. When it rains in Sons of The Forest, the shells will fill with water and be a good water source for whenever you need to restore your thirst meter.
The second method, which is far better and a little more complicated is by creating a Water Flask. To create a flask, you’ll need to find the 3D Printer which is located near the crash site – You can read our guide here on where to find the 3D printer. Once you’ve found the 3D printer, you’ll need 100 pieces of resin in order to print the Water Flask.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy way of collecting all the resin you need, so you’ll need to loot as many chests and ground drops as possible in order to obtain them. However, once you have printed the Water Flask, you’ll be able to carry water with you in Sons of The Forest.
