Sonic X Shadow Generations may have only just launched on October 25 (today as of writing), but it’s already hit a sales milestone. Sega has announced that the game has sold 1 million copies.
The sales numbers come from copies sold worldwide on all available platforms.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is a remake of 2011’s Sonic Generations. Where it differs, however, is that it includes new content in the form of Shadow Generation.
“Sonic X Shadow Generations is a title that combines two games: Sonic Generations, where players can enjoy speed-running various stages with Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic, enhanced with new elements, and Shadow Generations, a completely new game featuring the dark hero Shadow racing through dynamic environments,” Sega’s overview of the game reads.
“The story begins as a mysterious creature called the “Time Eater” creates distortions in time and space, setting off separate adventures for Sonic and Shadow. Players can look forward to a high-speed action-adventure with distinct gameplay experiences and narratives.”
Sonic X Shadow Generations is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Awesome now maybe Sega finally gives us a proper Shadow game hire Platinum to make it also have them make a Silver game. Also hope this opens the door for a Adventure 1 & 2 remake done right with the 4Kids dub cast and a Shiro Maekawa written Adventure 3 and more Sonic X dump Ian Flynn fire that untalented SonAmy shipper already his comics suck at IDW his editors kept him in line it’s clear it was their ideas not his. Maybe Elise can finally come back I’d be fine with her an Sonic maybe 06 remake with gameplay improvements I mean the story is great despite what the haters say. Also we need Sonic Riders remake and a new game maybe give that to Platinum too.
Maybe now they realize the “dark age” wasn’t bad it was great it was just idiot d bags on the internet mostly millennials who wanted to make fun of Sonic and it became a trend now they’re sad old men with nothing better to do. Go back to that era of Sonic it was great bring back Shiro Maekawa as the head writer and buy Platinum Games to make Sonic games from now on. The real dark age of Sonic is Colors onwards and yes that includes Frontiers Ian Flynn needs to go his stories are trash and his SonAmy crap needs to go Sonic can be with Elise and obvious Shadow with Rouge, then Silver with Blaze. Tails with Cosmo. Open world is the right move for Sonic and Frontiers isn’t all bad but the city and tropical islands are where Sonic open world would thrive even 06 executed with better gameplay would be awesome. Can we finally get a Silver game too waited so long for that and Shadow again too but do it right and give him his gun make it T rated this time it can be GTA meets Devil May Cry that’s fine. Sonic Riders too and bring back the 4Kids cast they were better than the current people. I hope this game doesn’t ruin the timeline since Ian is known for that keep the story of Shadow as is the movie already has me worried.

I hope they learn from this game. First dump Ian Flynn bring back Shiro Maekawa or hire someone else who knows how to write good shonen. Also dump the 2D sections no one likes them they suck stick with just 3D. Bring back Jason as Sonic and Shadow. They should make Silver DLC and just do 3D with his DLC. Don’t do Shadow’s story like this again it felt like it took away his moments in 06 that game was his biggest moment of growth.
I hope Sega learns from this fans want a Shadow game but not like this. First give him back his gun, second for character look at how Shadow is in Sonic 06 that’s how he should be moving forward, and gameplay no 2D stop with that the perspective shift is a constant headache just stick with 3D. I hope this leads to a proper Shadow game with better writers and I say give it to Platinum Games they’d do an amazing job all they need to play is Adventure 2, Heroes, Shadow, and Sonic 06 especially 06 for writing purposes. While they’re at it make a Silver game finally!
Sparking is missing a ton of characters they need to make that up and the cutscenes being cheaper out ain’t it I hope we get all the missing characters and Sagas SDBH and OG DB too
Facts stop the SonAmy crap and finally make Shadouge and Slivaze canon! They need to go back to that 2000’s writing style and 3D gaming and yeah rumors were Shadow back in 2005 was supposed to be a GTA T rated clone but when E10 became a new rating they changed the game to what it was for money they thought it would sell better. Make a T or even M rated Shadow game it would be awesome! Platinum seems like the perfect studio to do it or even RGG maybe both maybe give Shadow to Platinum Silver too and then Sonic to RGG. RGG needs to remake Shenmue first and help Suzuki wrap that story up and deliver on Virtua Fighter 6.
I hope they know the sales for this are because of Shadow. This game has its flaws though the Ian Flynn story and the 2D aspects. I hope this opens the door for a proper T or M rated Shadow game gets made. Follow this up with a Silver DLC too finally give us that. A remake of Sonic 06 and Riders next would be awesome. Is Sonic made in Dragon Engine?
I would love it for ColdRain to do music for Shadow and Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas to do music for Sonic and Silver projects.
This game had positives and negatives the negatives are the 2D gameplay sections, no gun, and then the weird writing of Shadow it undoes his growth from Adventure 2 and 06 he got past Maria’s passing he understood she didn’t want him to do evil in this game they undo that and make him a emotional mess again it’s clear the writer Ian Flynn has no understanding of the character and the explanation of his name felt cringe. Just bring back Shiro Maekawa to write Sonic also finally make a proper open world Sonic game in the city and tropical islands not some remote place that’s boring like Frontiers was and no SonAmy garbage! We need a proper Shadow game bring back Shiro Maekawa to write, hire Platinum Games to make it and it could be a mix of Devil May Cry with open world like Grand Theft Auto which is what the original 2005 Shadow game was supposed to be also get Coldrain on the soundtrack and let’s get some proper anime again for Sonic get TMS back to work or with Shadow instead of American studios making the animation.
We got Stephanie Nadolny back as Kid Goku now we need the 4Kids/Sonic 06 voice cast back and Shiro Maekawa. Memphiles and Black Doom back now all we need is Elise.
I’m glad this did well but it’s not what I wanted hopefully this opens the door for that a proper Shadow game a open world action T rated game with different writers than this game the writing for this and the changes were weird and unnecessary! Fire Ian Flynn and Aaron Webber bring back the writers of Sonic Adventure 1,2, Sonic 06 bring that team back and fire the current story staff! This story has its issues. Some of the gameplay elements from the 3D sections can and should be reused again in future Shadow games and look at Sonic 06’s portrayal of Shadow as what to do that’s what he and Team Dark should be like not some mess like this. Frontiers had the same problem with characters and obvious all previous Sonic games since Colors.
Now we need a True Crime NYC remake and sequel and a remake of Simpsons Hit & Run I hope Disney, Microsoft, and or EA see this there’s money to be made. While they’re at it time for a new Riddick game and let’s get Tenchu and Otogi back. Dead Or Alive and Bloody Roar too.
Microsoft you see this success you could have this too just reform Vicarious Visions and let them get back to work on remakes, THPS, Crash, Spyro, and give them the Rare stuff like Banjo and Conker to remake as well. These things would be hot on Game Pass. Don’t let Toys For Bob ruin Crash or Spyro again their woke art sucked and the look of the remake Spyro was just not it I’d be fine with another remake from Vicarious and full on new games from Vicarious. Tenchu, Prototype, The Simpsons Hit & Run, True Crime, Tony Hawk Underground, Kameo, Mech Assault, all of those get remakes.
Sega has a bunch of success right now the Like A Dragon series is making money and another one on the way with the Pirate one, Sonic X Shadow Generations doing great, Metaphor sold great, SMT 5 I believe got ported to more consoles and did well, and I think Hinokami Chronicles 2 is on the way they’re doing really good. They should buy Platinum Games not just for Sonic and Shadow but also their other IP like Burning Rangers, Nights, House Of The Dead/Zombie Revenge, Deep Fear, Shinning, Phantasy Star, Virtua Cop, Gun Valkyrie, OutRun, Snowboard Kids, Groove On Fight, and many others also the obvious stuff they own that Platinum made like Bayonetta, Vanquish, MadWorld, they could always bring those back too especially MadWorld.
