In a new blog post today, PlayStation shared an interview revealing fresh details on Shadow’s Doom Powers coming to Sonic x Shadow Generations.
During the interview, Sonic Team Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka said “the Doom Powers play an essential role in Shadow’s journey and development.” They emphasized its flexibility, giving Shadow “new ways to attack enemies and traverse the world” with platforming and more.
Iizuka also mentioned that “the Doom Powers draw energy from Black Doom, so that was taken into consideration in the design of all the Doom Powers.” Earlier this month, some new images revealed the modern render of the iconic villain Black Doom.
The blog accompanied a new trailer today, which showcases Shadow’s anticipated Doom Powers in action.
The trailer breaks down key abilities including Doom Spears and Doom Blast, which offer new ways for players to attack with Shadow.
Doom Morph, Doom Wing, and Doom Surf are all traversal techniques, allowing shadow to interact with environments, fly, and cross water with ease.
In July 2024, Takashi Iizuka also mentioned a potential Sonic RPG. Though he said such a project is “just a dream right now,” they appeared to express serious interest.
Sonic x Shadow Generations launches on October 25, 2024. It will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, and current or last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Looks awesome just give him his gun and all will be fine. Also where is the Sonic movie 3 trailer? We need a Platinum Games Shadow game and I hope someone Viz or Udon localizes the Shadow manga.
We don’t need another Sonic Frontiers just give us a new Shadow game and while you’re at it a Silver game or do something like this with him. Do I have to sadly wait for 2026 for his anniversary.
