Jagex is developing a new game set in the RuneScape Universe.
An open-world survival game, the new title is being built using Unreal Engine 5. The engine is a major change from the Runetek engine that is used to power RuneScape itself.

No other details about the game has been announced by Jagex. However, the studio is looking for players to alpha test the game.
“We know Jagex is at it’s best when we’re working with players, so we’re looking to recruit playtesters for our Closed Alpha,” the company posted via social media.
The Closed Alpha will only be available on PC, and “spaces are limited”, per Jagex. Those who wish to sign up need to have active Discord and Steam accounts, as well.
Jagex was sold in February 2024 for a reported $1.1 billion to CVC Capital Partners. A new chairman was then appointed in March 2024.
At the time of his appointing as chairman, Marc Allera said that he was “looking forward” to helping achieve the goals and plans for RuneScape, Old School RuneScape, and “other titles”.

Jagex has a long and storied history of every single game they try to make that isn’t Runescape shuttering before there’s even gameplay footage.
I won’t hold my breath on this one.
